Dental Care

Maintaining routine dental care is important for your pet's teeth as well as their overall health. Happy Acres Veterinary Clinic recommends regular exams and cleaning from a qualified veterinarian beginning when your pets are young. We use progressive, safe technology to clean teeth above and below the gum line. Our dental technicians polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup. We also perform a dental exam to check for problem teeth or teeth that are painful and require extraction.

Neglected dental health can lead to the loss of teeth, abscesses, and the development of periodontal/gum disease. Left untreated, periodontal disease can have severe consequences on your pet’s overall health including an increased risk of organ damage, eye issues, jaw fractures, and oral cancer.

If you have never had your pet’s dental condition checked, or if you notice your pet exhibiting any of the following conditions, don’t hesitate to give us a call and schedule a dental care appointment:

  • • Abnormal chewing, drooling, or dropping food from the mouth
  • • Bad breath
  • • Bleeding from the mouth
  • • Broken or loose teeth
  • • Gum recession and/or gum swelling
  • • Pain in or around the mouth
  • • Pawing at the face or mouth
  • • Reduced appetite or refusal to eat
  • • Swelling of the face
  • • Teeth that are discolored or covered in tartar
  • • Weight loss
